Overview:

CG Motors has officially launched the Riddara RD6, an all-electric pickup truck, in Nepal. Originally introduced by Geely’s Radar brand on July 12, 2022, the RD6 is built on Geely’s Multiplex Attached Architecture (MAP), derived from the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, also seen in the Zeekr X.

This innovative platform supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities up to 6kW, allowing the RD6 to power external devices such as lights, fridges, and laptops. Additionally, it offers a 20% increase in ground clearance compared to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) pickups, thanks to the advanced MAP platform.

Although pickup trucks have not been particularly popular in China, Geely has found success in this segment. With the RD6, Geely aims to tap into the growing electric vehicle market in Southeast Asia, having already showcased the truck at the Thailand Motor Expo.

Price and Variants:

The Riddara RD6 is priced at approximately Rs. 64 Lakhs in Nepal, with a special NADA Auto Show offer reducing the price to Rs. 63 Lakhs. Internationally, the RD6 is available in two battery options—63 kWh and 86 kWh—though the Nepalese market will only get the 63 kWh variant.

Design:

The Riddara RD6 sports a bold design, featuring the “RIDDARA” logo prominently placed above the bonnet. Its grille has a sleek, parametric design, accompanied by slim LED DRLs and sharply contoured LED headlights. The rear cargo space offers 1200 liters, complete with built-in sockets, benefiting from the V2L feature. The taillights form an “X” shape when the cargo door is closed, and a light strip adds extra styling to the rear.

Inside, the RD6 feels more like an SUV, with premium soft-touch materials, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leatherette seats. The dashboard houses a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, complemented by a 9-inch instrument cluster and a 6-speaker sound system.

Performance:

Powered by a 200 kW motor, the RD6 delivers 272 PS and 384 Nm of torque. It boasts a 377 km range (NEDC) and can charge from 0 to 100% in 9.5 hours via a 7.2 kW AC charger. With a DC fast charger, it can go from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes. The RD6 can reach a top speed of 185 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. It can tow up to 2500 kg and carry a payload of 775 kg.

The RD6 faces competition from the JAC T8 EV but stands out with its more powerful 200 kW motor compared to the T8’s 150 kW motor. Its RWD setup, advanced features like L2 ADAS, and a competitive price make the RD6 a strong contender in Nepal's electric pickup market.
