1. Larger battery, more range
The new MG ZS EV comes with two battery options: a Long Range (LR) version with a 70 kWh battery and a Standard Range (SR) version with a 50.3 kWh battery. The LR and SR battery options have WLTP ranges of 440 km and 320 km, respectively, which are longer than the preceding ZS EV, which had a 44.5 kWh battery and a range of 263 km.
2. Interior and exterior design
The new ZS EV has a revised front end that eliminates the grille, with new LED headlights, and an improved charging outlet. The completely redesigned LED taillights at the back give the vehicle a more high-tech appearance and improve visibility in the dark. The revamped dashboard has a carbon-look surface, appealing contrasting stitching, and two new displays: a central 10.1-inch touchscreen for controlling the MG iSMART infotainment system, and an all-digital 7-inch instrument panel that exhibits a wide range of data.
3. MG iSMART infotainment
The MG iSMART infotainment system is available in two versions and is standard on the new MG ZS EV. The Comfort version’s iSMART system includes Navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, and DAB+ digital radio. The Luxury edition of the MG iSMART in addition to the comfort features, includes real-time traffic navigation, calendar synchronization, voice control, weather forecast, Amazon Prime streaming music, and firmwire over-the-air (FOTA) updates, among others. The iSMART system also links to a smartphone app for both the Comfort and Luxury models, allowing for remote control of numerous functions.
4. Improved charging capability
Both comfort and luxury versions support (ultra) fast charging (DC) at a capacity of 92 kW up over 76 kW on the previous generation. More significantly, the new MG ZS EV, you can top up more energy per minute, giving you longer driving range in a lot less time. In addition, the Long Range variant comes included with an 11 kW 3-phase on-board charger implying that you can charge at a charging station using alternating current (AC) at a maximum of 11 kW if the station can handle it. Keep in mind, however, that the Long Range version's battery capacity is also 1.57 times that of the preceding ZS EV.
5. Vehicle-to-Load
The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system is another standout feature of the renewed MG ZS EV. This enables the battery to power an external electrical system with a capacity of up to 2,500W.
The V2L charging cable, has a type-2 plug on one end that plugs into the car's charging socket and a home socket on the other. You can use it to power other electrical devices, such as a kettle, a cool box, an e-bike, a laptop, an electric scooter, and more. You may even charge another electric vehicle!
