Bagmati Province's Electric Taxis is the New Initiative Towards a Greener Future
The new criteria set by the Bagmati Province government for electric taxis is arranged for two types: 'Ordinary' e-taxis and 'Special' or 'Deluxe' e-taxis. It is noted that the ordinary taxi would have to be 5 seating capacity, while the deluxe taxi could be of 5 or 7 seating capacity.
The criteria further states that the new ordinary e-taxis must be a ‘sedan’ car, with a boot space of over 200 litres, a motor with at least 30 kW capacity, and a lithium ion battery of 20 kW-hr. The minimum range of this taxi has been highlighted to run approximately 210 km. Whereas, the criteria set for the deluxe e-taxi’s specifications requires it to be either a sedan or van-body vehicle with 250 litres boot space, 50 kW motor capacity, and a 40 kW-hr lithium ion battery. The minimum range of this taxi runs at approximately 250 km.
Depending on these two types of electric taxis, including previous regular taxis, the government has plans to fix the taxi fares at different rates. If a new taxi is to be registered, the taxi must have been in production for at least 15 years. In addition, the standard has established arrangements for the meter reading to be shown on a digital display board inside the taxi.
