Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 : A Compact Crossover EV For The Long-Term
The IONIQ 5's appearance is a combination of sharp lines that both surprise and fascinate the eye; a downward-sloping character line runs down the side, and the front end seems to have a more robotic cyberpunk overtone. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 features an extensive interior. For starters, eco-materials are used prominently throughout the interior. Sugar cane raw materials are used in the headliner, carpet, and seat covers, for example. The door pockets are deep, and there's a large storage compartment under the temperature controls. The IONIQ 5 offers higher cargo capacity than many of the same utility vehicles, with 770 litres of luggage space. When equipped with the bigger 77.4-kWh battery, it can pull up to 2,000 pounds. In other words, this is a very spacious vehicle that’s perfect for a young family.
The all-wheel-drive Ioniq 5 manages a solid EPA-estimated 256 miles of range with its 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The EV's 800-volt design allows it to accept charging rate of up to 350 kw, allowing it to recharge from 10% to 80% in around 18 minutes (the last 20 percent always takes longer as the charge rate slowly decreases beyond that point). Depending on the charging station, a good charger can put out roughly 50 kW, which is still sufficiently fast. This won't be an issue if you have a Level 2 charger at home, which can simply be plugged in overnight.
A pair of 12.3-inch monitors on a single panel come equipped on the Ioniq 5. With a customisable center portion, this 12.3-inch display panel provides all the critical information you need at a glance, as well as a thorough estimate of charging hours if it's plugged in. The current edition of Hyundai's outstanding telematics system is shown on the infotainment screen to its right, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a good voice-recognition system and inbuilt navigation. There are five USB-A ports available for charging: one beneath the dashboard, two in the center console, and two in the rear seat. There's also a 120-volt outlet back there that can pull up to 16 amps in case you need it.
