MG Comet EV or Seres E1: Which one is for you?
With each passing year, an increasing number of electric car types and manufacturers enter the market. In the current year, two exciting mini hatchback EVs have been released: the MG Comet EV and the Seres E1. These two cars can directly compete for a share of the Nepalese market, and both were unveiled at the NADA Auto Show in 2023.

Although a range of 220-230 km may not appear as impressive when compared to other EVs, it is crucial to remember that both of these cars were designed for city commuting. With a single charge, you can easily commute for 1-2 weeks. One significant drawback of the Seres E1 is its extremely low ground clearance. The Comet's clearance is the same as that of the popular Hyundai i10, which is sufficient to survive the pothole-ridden streets of Kathmandu; the city of potholes (or deities, whatever). However, the same may not be true for the Seres E1.
The MG Comet comes with a price tag of Rs. 17.99 lakhs, while the Seres E1 is priced much lower at Rs. 13.99 lakhs. Although the Comet boasts slightly better specifications than the E1, the latter certainly wins in terms of cost, being much more appropriately priced for what it offers. The Seres E1 is also the most affordable EV in Nepal.
