New tax exemptions and additions have been decided on EV excise and customs duty depending on the motor capacity of the electric vehicles. The Nepal government has announced exemptions, reductions and additions on excise duty and customs duty for electric vehicles (EV) during the budget announcement of the Fiscal Year 2079/20 (2022/23).

The Bagmati state government has imposed a new measure for upcoming new taxis to be electrical taxi. The new criteria is set or two types: 'Ordinary' e-taxis and 'Deluxe' e-taxis. Depending on these two types of electric taxis, including previous regular taxis, the government has plans to fix the taxi fares at different rates. The government has arranged for old taxis as old as 20-year-old to be compulsorily converted into an electric one, and new taxis to electric only.
